Nouveau venu remarqué et remarquable de la scène hip hop de Chicago, Mick Jenkins sort en 2016 un premier album à peu près aussi enthousiasmant qu’un match des Bulls en 1995. L’écriture grave et intime du grand bonhomme détonne autant qu’elle impressionne. Telle un « alley-oop » de Scottie Pippen pour Michael Jordan, elle transperce tout le terrain du hip hop, dribblant d’une ambiance jazzy toute en finesse (l’excellentissime featuring avec BADBADNOTGOOD, coucou TINALS 2014) jusqu’aux dunks au buzzer des beats électroniques (le morceau Communicate produit par Kaytranada).
TINALS a trouvé son nouvel MVP. Et George Eddy apprécie.
